What to Wear to your Spring photo session
Tips for how to dress for your spring photo session
Start with mama’s outfit and then go from there
I often recommend starting with mom’s outfit, then choosing complimenting colors for the rest of the family!
Choose coordinating but not matching colors which will complement the environment and season
Start by selecting a color scheme and then add complimentary hues to create a natural look. Choose 2-3 main colors and then add softer tones to accent and complete your look. Be sure to choose colors that will complement the environment.
Avoid wearing green since there will be a lot of green in the environment.
Neutrals are beautiful and timeless for spring photo sessions
Springtime is a great season to wear pale pastels like pink, lilac or yellow with neutrals like cream, ivory and tan. Blues and yellows together in the family color palette work really well this time of year!

Wear a dress
Maxi and midi length dresses photograph beautifully on most women and allow for freedom to move around, sit on the ground and interact with your kids. Styles that have a fitted waist, but flow out below the waist are most flattering and also look fantastic flowing in spring breezes.
Here are some beautiful dresses for some inspiration this Spring!
White tops with texture and sweet details photograph really well! Like these below:
Rachel Pally Dresses: I love the texture of linen in photographs. And it feels casual enough to run around after the kids in. Like this one below:
Christy Dawn always has a nice selection of casual and comfy dresses! I live in these dresses when the weather starts to warm up. Plus their dresses all have pockets which we all know is the best feature!
Sezane https://www.sezane.com/us I love this French brand, which is my go-to when I want to class it up a bit. I have several of their dresses I’ve worn for our family photo sessions. They clothing always makes me feel elegant!

Choose fabrics that flow and aim for a variety of textures
When selecting a dress, look for fabrics that flow and resist wrinkles (e.g. chiffon, rayon, silk, or polyester). Try to incorporate a variety of textures like chunky knits, crochet, chambray, lace, and ruffles. These textures add beautiful depth and interest to photographs.
The rest of the family!
Consider putting your children in a one print! I love having at least one person in the family wearing a print or pattern.
See my pinterest board here with lots of ideas for clothing for your children!
For Dads:
For Dad, keep it simple with a button up shirt. Jean shirt always looks nice. A shirt with texture. I like these Denium shirt options below. And even Terri cloth could be really cool!
