Our Connection Experiement

Lately we've been in a particularly difficult season of parenting ourson, SΓΈren. Some of you may already know that we have a special needs child, so our day-to-day life with him is very challenging. The stress from it all certainly puts a strain on our relationship. We've seen some partnerships collapse from the sheer stress of raising a child like ours. To be honest, we feel proud and quite lucky to have a strong partnership and friendship after all this time (15 years!).

We certainly don't have all the answers, and to be honest, it feels a little vulnerable to share the video below. But we do try very hard to keep coming back to an authentic curiosity and interest in each other. If you spent time in our home you'd likely hear us making each other laugh and you'd notice our genuine enjoyment in each other's company.

So if you're a busy parent, with many external stresses and constraints on your time, we thought you might appreciate this connection practice we recently tried.

In the video below you'll see us - unedited and vulnerable. Sharing a simple mantra and a practice of deep seeing and acknowledging.

I encourage you to come at it with an open mind - you'll even see Mark's initial reluctance in the video. But if you get past the silliness of it, you might leave feeling closer and more connected than before you began.

To connect we join our hearts and eyes

I see the light in you

I feel the light in you

And I join my heart to yours
