Sawyer Family Film || Durham Family Photography and Videography

The Family Story: Over this summer we’ve been creating with the Sawyer family to tell their unique family story. In January 2021 Layla was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The brain tumor was located on her left optic nerve. 2021 was the hardest year of their lives, filled with seemingly endless chemo treatments, scans, and eye exams.

In January of 2022 - after 12 months of chemo - Layla rang the end of chemo treatment bell!! All her recent scans show her brain tumor is stable and her vision is stable!

We spent the afternoon together celebrating simple, sweet family moments. And you can watch their Family Film below!

“Katrina took photos of us a little over a year ago about 5 months into Laylas chemo treatments. It was such a fun, special time that we spent together and she made it so easy! I can’t tell you how many times during Layla’s year of treatment that I looked at those photos and marveled at the pure joy on her face during such a difficult time. This summer Katrina and Mark came to our house and created a beautiful family film including some videos from the last year or so. Documenting this time in our lives has meant so much to us. It will forever be a reminder of God’s faithfulness, joy in the midst of sorrow, of the beauty that can be found even in the most difficult things, and to cherish even the small moments not taking anything for granted. Thank you Katrina and Mark! You are both so talented! This is such a gift”.
