Making Cinematic Videos of Your Children
How to improve your videos of your children with your phone. For busy, but sentimental parents.
Tip one: Orientation
Remember to film in the Horizontal orientation!
Tip 2: Adjust your camera settings on your phone
Experiment with adjusting the resolution and frame rate on your phone- by doing this you’ll get more cinematic-looking footage with the device you already have!
To do this -- go into settings > camera > record video > choose resolution of 4K at 60fps.
This allows you to slow down footage later and remove camera shake, resulting in a more professional look and videos that have a more epic feel.
Note: This will take up more space on your phone so you don’t always want to shoot in this mode, use it intentionally!
Tip 3: Lock exposure on your camera
Touch screen > set exposure > and lock it
Tip 4: Good light is crucial
Practice in even, soft light. If indoors turn off artificial lights, open up the blinds.
I really hope these little tips have been helpful to you and that you now have some new ideas for taking great videos of your kids!
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d ever like me to take some for you with you actually in them, you’re an important part of the family too! :)
Kindly,
Katrina
