Offering Perspective
My work and art is shaped so much by my experience living in a hospital for the last two years and my son's journey through a bone marrow transplant.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
This heartache, the suffering, and spending nights wondering if he will survive, impacts everything I do. It’s why I want the families I work with to treasure their everyday moments. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because in the end- that’s likely what will matter most. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I know this so acuity, because I’ve lived it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When Søren was at his sickest, all I wanted was to be home- chasing him around the dining room, cleaning up his toys, tying his shoes. When all those simple moments were threatened- they became my deepest desires.
I can offer this perspective to families. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To help you slow down and cherish these little things. It’s all so precious, so beautiful, and not guaranteed.
I want my time with the families I work with to be about more than just nice photos and videos. I want you to slow down and treasure what you have. If I can impart some of the wisdom I’ve learned from going through such heartache, then it heals a part of me. It turns my pain into something meaningful and beautiful.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We did just that with the Shimmel Family on a lazy Sunday afternoon. You can see how presevered them laughing, playing, flying airplanes, and being silly together!
