5 Reasons why your home is the best location for your family session!
I LOVE documenting families in their own homes. There are so many great reasons to do an in-home photo session! In-home session can be creative, comfortable, fun and deeply personal. It’s often much more honest and real than a photo session at an epic outdoor location.
Here are my top reasons to do an in-home photo session!
You can capture the daily rituals and everyday moments that you are sure to miss in 10 years time. Your families story is carried out inside the walls of your home. Why not capture your children in these most meaningful spaces where you live out your days?
Your children are more relaxed, comfortable and at ease, that shows in the photos! I loved showing up at a home and the children want to start showing me their toys or their favorite things- we immediately are at ease and beautiful photos just start happening! Everyone in the family can be their most authentic self. Often families hire me because they want AUTHENTIC and honest photos. Your home is the most natural place for this to happen.
You can include your pets more easily: I know for many families their pets are like family - so why not included them in your annual photo session. It’s much easier to do at home too!
Recording your children’s voices is so much easier indoors. I often say that my son’s voice is the thing I will miss the most as he gets older. So I’m often wanting to capture his sweet little voice. When you’re indoors you can control the sound more easily, so their sweet voices can really shine.
Time of day doesn’t matter as much when we’re indoors. Typically when photographing outdoors, aiming to meet one hour before sunset is the most flattering outdoor light. But when we’re inside we can meet anytime of day.
I’ve heard many people say they don’t want their session in their home because they are worried about their space being clean, or designed well, or not having enough light. But really none of that matters- we can make magic happen anywhere!
